چکیده

HE theoretical aspects of diploid populations where all reproduction is by self-fertilization have been considered by several workers (ANDERSON and KEMPTHORNE 1954; COCKERHAM 1954,1963 ; HORNER, COMSTOCK and ROBINSON 1954; DEMPSTER 1955; KEMPTHORNE 1956, 1957, 1963; HORNER and WEBER 1956; GATES, COMSTOCK and ROBINSON 1957; HANSON and WEBER 1961). Several of these papers have indicated parametric representations of the biometrical aspects of quantitative traits of such populations. The purpose of the present paper is to study the biometrical aspects of self-fertilizing populations by an approach suggested by DEMPSTER (1955). The parametrizations obtained will be somewhat more general than results obtained previously. Of the work mentioned previously, only GATES et al. (1957) considered in a detailed way the consequences of the genetic phenomenon of linkage. The present work will have one weakness in common with the remainder of the previous work cited. in that linkage will be ignored. Bnsic notation: When all reproduction is by self-fertilization with no selection, a population can be considered as an aggregate of sub-populations with each subpopulation including all the progeny of one individual in a certain generation. Thus, we will consider initially a subpopulation originating from a single individual in generation zero, and later the overall population will be considered. A diploid genotype involving n loci may be symbolized as

Effect of thermal stress on some hematological parameters of diploid and triploid Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Temperature fluctuation is one of the most common stressors during fish transportation and aquaculture condition. Triploid rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) get more attention because of its sterility. In this study, 24 rainbow trout belong to diploid and triploid group, average weight 13±0.23 g were subjected to temperature change from 13 to 20 ºC, and kept under tension for 10 min. Before a...

Protective Effect of Royal Jelly on Sperm Parameters, In-vitro Fertilizing Potential, and Oxidative Stress Indicators in the Testis of Mice Exposed to Ethephon

Introduction: Ethephon is an organophosphorus that used to stimulate plant growth. Royal Jelly is a substance with antioxidant properties and is effective for strengthening the immune system. This study aimed to determine the effect of Royal Jelly on sperm parameters, in vitro fertilization, and oxidative stress indicators in mice. Material & Methods: In this experimental study, 20 adult ma...

The Effect of Prolonged Culture of Chromosomally Abnormal Human Embryos on The Rate of Diploid Cells

Background A decrease in aneuploidy rate following a prolonged co-culture of human blastocysts has been reported. As co-culture is not routinely used in assisted reproductive technology, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the prolonged single culture on the rate of diploid cells in human embryos with aneuploidies. MaterialsAndMethods In this cohort study, we used fluorescence in ...

Neutral genetic markers and conservation genetics: simulated germplasm collections.

This study examines the use of neutral genetic markers to guide sampling from a large germplasm collection with the objective of establishing from it a smaller, but genetically representative sample. We simulated evolutionary change and germplasm sampling in a subdivided population of a diploid hermaphrodite annual plant to create an initially large collection. Several strategies of sampling fr...

Transposable element evolution in the allotetraploid Capsella bursa-pastoris.

PREMISE OF THE STUDY Shifts in ploidy affect the evolutionary dynamics of genomes in a myriad of ways. Population genetic theory predicts that transposable element (TE) proliferation may follow because the genomewide efficacy of selection should be reduced and the increase in gene copies may mask the deleterious effects of TE insertions. Moreover, in allopolyploids, TEs may further accumulate b...
